Alzheimer Prevention Trials (APT)
One of the things I’m involved in is a web study being conducted to help determine the degree if any decline in cognitive abilities as an indicator of the need for further clinical study and assistance. I have been participating for a over a year now, just took my 5th assessment and will not have results for a couple days. Fortunately my previous 4 assessments did not show any decline so I’m feeling good about that. Here is the web address if you might want to participate, my opinion is that we need to accumulate as much data as possible to aid in development of a cure.

The APT Webstudy is a web-based cognitive assessment research tool being developed to identify normal individuals who are at higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease with the goal of providing them the opportunity to participate in clinical trials aimed at preventing dementia.
What to expect when you participate in the APT Webstudy. As part of this online research study, we will be assessing your memory function every three months and will track it longitudinally over time. If we find that you are at increased risk for developing AD, we will invite you to come for an in-person evaluation at one of the APT network sites that will perform further testing including blood tests, brain scans and additional memory assessments. If eligible, you may then be provided the opportunity to enroll in a clinical trial aimed at preventing the cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
